Carson City man jailed after allegedly stealing wire, battery from junk business
A 32-year-old Carson City man faces misdemeanor larceny and stolen property charges after allegedly taking wire and a battery from a business that sells junk on Wednesday.
The man was arrested at 12:05 p.m. in the 1800 block of Lompa Lane. According to the arrest report, officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Ann Street for a report of a commercial burglary.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victim who stated a gray Chevy Suburban pulled up to the back of the businesses and loaded some wire and a battery. The victim estimated the total value of the battery and wire was about $15.
As the suspect was driving off, one of the victims waved him down and spoke with him before the man abruptly drove off, according to the arrest report.
Captain Sandage located the Suburban and conducted a traffic stop. The man gave consent to search the vehicle. Inside they found the battery and wire. The man faces charges of petit larceny and possession of stolen property. While conducting an inventory of the Suburban, officers found a marijuana pipe on the floor board. He also faces a charge of possessing drug paraphernalia. Bail: $2,626.
— A 42-year-old Carson City woman faces a misdemeanor charge of resisting arrest after a confrontation Wednesday, July 17 with officers in the 1800 block of North Edmonds.
According to the arrest report, officers were called at 11:21 a.m. to a verbal domestic dispute in the 2000 block of Darla Way.
The woman was found walking near a casino. She told officers what happened during the dispute and that it was no big deal. While speaking with officers, dispatch advised the woman had an outstanding warrant for her arrest, violation of a suspended sentence, failure to provide proof of community service completion issued Dec. 3, 2012.
She told the officer she wanted to make a phone call on her cell phone. She was asked to turn around to be handcuffed. She stated she was not going to jail and began walking northbound on North Edmonds. She was apprehended with a brief struggle at 11:40 a.m. The arresting officer sustained a small cut on his right arm in the incident. Bail: $1,732.
— A 59-year-old Carson City man faces two misdemeanor criminal contempt warrants. He was arrested at the Carson City Sheriff's Office on Wednesday, July 17, 11:13 a.m. The warrants were issued out of Sparks.
— A 22-year-old Carson City man was arrested Wednesday, July 17, in the 1500 block of Rand at 5:44 p.m. He faces a warrant charge of failure to appear. Bail: $526.
— A 45-year-old Dresslerville man was arrested July 16, in the 600 block of Old Clear Creek Road and faces two misdemeanor charges of failure to appear on traffic warrants. Bail: $1,502.
— A 56-year-old transient was arrested July 16, 11:50 a.m. in the 400 block of West 5th Street. He faces a misdemeanor charge of contempt of court. Bail: $5,000.
— A 25-year-old Silver Springs man was arrested July 16, 8:26 a.m. at the intersection of Adams and Stewart streets on a failure to appear traffic warrant. Bail: $234.
Those arrested and facing charges are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
