Carson City Intermediate Little League defeats Summerlin North for state championship
Carson City's Little League Intermediate All Stars are on their way to Nogales, Arizona after defeating Summerlin North of Las Vegas 17 to 3 in a State Championship showdown at Governors Field Sunday.
The victory earned them a trip to the Western Region tournament in Arizona where they will compete with teams from California, Hawaii, Arizona, Oregon, Washington, Montana, Idaho, Utah and Wyoming.
The pitching was strong as Ben Nelson, Cole Salaices and Jared Barnard all shared the mound (2 innings, 2 innings, 1 inning respectively). Cole Salaices earns notable mention for his performance as he faced only 8 batters in his 6 outs - ALL 6 outs were strike outs! Nice! Hot bats also played a major role tonight as we loaded up the bases time and time again working our way to those 17 runs. Notable bats:
Landon Truesdale - 2 RBI Single
Garret Damico - 2 RBI Double
Kahle Good - 2 RBI Triple
Jared Barnard - 2 RBI Homerun
They just kept building and building the excitement. Everybody put in a wonderful team effort to earn themselves 1st place medals, State Champion hats, a big trophy for our case and the banner that will hang in out indoor facility for all to enjoy.
Now the business side of this - the trip to Nogales Arizona for the Western Region tournament will be an expensive one. Twelve players, three managers and one team parent for 11-12 days - transportation, lodging and food will add up quickly!
Please consider donating to help get these boys out the door and on their way to this once in a life sort of an adventure! If every follower of this Facebook page donated even just $10 we would have a HUGE chunk of the expenses paid for!
