Carson City woman hit by car, flown to Renown Medical Center
A Carson City woman was hit by a car tonight in the 1500 block of 5th Street and was flown by Care Flight to Renown Medical Center in Reno.
The woman was transported from the accident scene to Carson High School where Care Flight picked her up. Her condition appeared to be serious. The accident was reported at 7:22 p.m. Care Flight arrived within minutes after being requested by medics on-scene.
Described as being in her 40s, the woman was semi-conscious and was able to answer some but not all questions, according to medics. Crews described the accident as the woman having been "bumped" by the car, and that her head may have hit the pavement. Initial reports before emergency crews arrived were that the woman had been run over by the car.
Head injuries require thorough examination and therefore she was taken by air ambulance, said Carson City Fire Department Battalion Chief Bob Charles.
The accident was called in by a female friend of the victim who told dispatchers that she accidently hit her friend with the car. Early reports indicate one or both of the women may have been drinking. The name of the victim and her condition are unknown at this time.
