Carson Station collects cash in July to Benefit Boys and Girls Clubs of Western Nevada
The Boys and Girls Club of Western Nevada have picked the Carson Station Hotel Casino in Carson City as its spotlight business of the month. This means for the entire month of July, General Manager Bruce Jabbour and his staff and their customers will be collecting money for a donation to the Boys and Girls Club of Western Nevada.
The Boys and Girls Club of Western Nevada in association with Boys and Girls Clubs of America participate in the National IJTO campaign. “It Just Takes One” is a campaign that was developed to help raise proceeds to aid the clubs across the nation meet their goals in educating, caring and providing a safe and rewarding environment for youth in communities.
According to Cliff Sorensen, Boys and Girls Club of Western Nevada Board Secretary, at the Western Nevada club we have taken it a step closer to heart and have asked local businesses to team up with us each month and for an entire month and ask their customers, on our behalf, as they checkout or pay their bill, if they would like to donate a dollar (or different amount) to the Boys and Girls Club of Western Nevada to help defray the costs of tuition for those children’s family that cannot afford to send their children to the club.
The club never turns a child away regardless of their ability to pay and the club only charges each member $30 per year, even though it costs the club $510 per year per member to operate.
At the end of the thirty days the business calculates the donation amount and writes the club a check for that amount. The business can also decide, if they wish, to match the amount that their customers donated. At the conclusion of this 30 day period, we will then announce the date of the check presentation to the club on behalf of the customers and staff at each of the participating businesses.
Carson Station not only has decided to match the amount their wonderful customers are contributing, they are also giving every customer that donates a dollar $5 in free play at their casino (rules and restrictions do apply). According to Cliff Sorensen, this is another way that proves that Carson Station and their awesome staff are truly deserved of our spotlight business for July. They are incredible partners of the club.
