Brush fire in south Carson City damages out building, destroys boat before being knocked down
UPDATE: Firefighters were able to get a handle on a brush fire Friday afternoon in the 4300 block of Silver Sage Drive in south Carson City near Clearview Drive.
The fire burned three storage buildings, and destroyed a boat before firefighters were able to stop it from getting to homes between Clearview and Roventini Way, said Carson City Fire Chief Stacey Giomi.
Gusty winds whipped the fire through some brush which is likely what caused the rapid spread. As of 1:45 p.m the fire was in the mop-up stage.
How the fire started is being investigated and appears to be suspicious. On Thursday, Carson City fire crews responded to two other fires that were also considered suspicious.
