Carson City man jailed after brief vehicle pursuit with officers
A 19-year-old Carson City man was jailed on multiple misdemeanor charges after allegedly using his vehicle in a reckless manner and refusing an order to pull over, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.
According to the arrest report, officers standing next to three patrol cars on Pine Street observed the man, driving a red 1987 Ford Mustang, accelerate and rapidly approach the Hot Springs intersection.
The driver pulled up to the officers, slowing down and he drove near them. He was told to pull his car over. The man said no, and sped away, going through a stop sign and driving over a curb, the report states.
Carson City Sheriff's Office Sgt. Earl Mays pursued the Mustang into the parking lot of a convenience store in the 3000 block of North Roop Street. When the officer arrived the man had exited the vehicle and was in the lawn area on the southwest corner of the building.
Officers made contact with the man, who could not provide proof of insurance or registration. During a warrant check, it was learned the man was on Alternative Sentencing for a past DUI arrest. He was arrested and a probation hold was placed on the man.
He faces the following misdemeanor charges: wanton reckless driving, obstructing, no proof of insurance, no registration in the vehicle, and violation of probation terms. Bail: $4,858.
