Sacramento area man dies in head-on crash Sunday south of Gardnerville
A 23-year-old northern California man died and one person remains in critical condition following a head-on crash Sunday south of Gardnerville on Highway 395, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.
Harvinder Singh of Sloughhouse in Sacramento County, died at the scene of the crash, which happened at around 1 p.m. and closed a portion of Highway 395 for several hours Sunday. NHP Trooper Dave Gibson said that as of Monday afternoon, one man remains in critical condition at Renown Medical Center in Reno.
Singh was driving a 2008 Honda Pilot northbound on Highway 395 when he attempted a legal but dangerous pass around a pickup with an RV trailer.
Singh collided head-on with a 2008 Acura traveling southbound driven by Daniel Joseph Lawlor and passenger Jeffery Thomas Lawlor, both from Lancaster, Calif. Daniel Lawlor is in critical condition. Jeffery Lawlor was treated and released from the hospital. Those in the pickup were uninjured.
