DiLullo Takes Over as General Manager of Carson Nugget
Since 1954, Carson Nugget has played a pivotal role in the Downtown life of Carson City, and is woven into the tapestry of memories of locals and visitors alike.
While the Adams family has owned the property since 1958, talks are underway between the Hop and Mae Adams Foundation and M1 Gaming for a possible ownership transfer, though nothing is yet confirmed.
Of course, as is true of small towns, the facts should never get in the way of a good story and Carson City is no different. Here’s what is known so far:
On June 16, 2014, Dean DiLullo, who is the sole owner of M1 Gaming, Reno LLC, with has such holdings as Boomtown Hotel and Casino in Reno, and who brings 27 years of experience with him, took over as Carson Nugget’s general manager, according to Tim Morrissey, the Nugget’s marketing manager.
M1 Gaming “is a company based in Nevada that specializes in casino management, gaming acquisitions and consulting for the gaming industry,” according to the company’s web site, www.m1gaming.com .
“As of now it is business as usual with no immediate changes planned,” Morrissey said. “I know Dean is actively in talks with the Foundation and I am not sure whether or not the paperwork (that would be filed with the Nevada State Gaming Control Board) has been started, and there is no key licensing that goes with being a general manager.”
As of Monday, no paper work had been filed with the Gaming Control Board. Early morning calls Thursday were as yet unanswered.
According to Morrissey, DiLullo came in as a consultant two weeks prior to assuming the general manager role, and during that time, “has done a wonderful job of meeting the employees and blending into the dichotomy that is the Carson Nugget,” he said. “He has … a wealth of knowledge that allows him to put a new set of eyes on the property and see how it can be improved.”
While things are currently unresolved though, Morrissey said Nugget patrons should rest assured.
“That’s what is nice about Carson City; the people are invested and they do care,” he said. “That is why Dean, who is passionate and expert about what he does will take them into consideration, rather than just making changes like other properties do.
“As things progress, we will keep everyone informed.”
