A 65-year-old man was arrested Wednesday on a felony charge of burglary after attempting to take more than $400 in merchandise from Walmart on Market Street in Carson City.
Darrel Wayne Fisher, a homeless man, also faces lessor charges of petit larceny and obstructing, according to a Carson City sheriff's deputy.
Officers were dispatched to the store at around 8:15 p.m. and met with Loss Prevention who observed the man leaving the store through the west door with a shopping basket of merchandise. He was confronted outside the store and taken inside.
A deputy asked the man for his name and the man provided a false name. He did not have photo identification. After some time passed the man gave his real name and date of birth. The man had three petit larceny convictions within the past seven years. Bail: $20,764.
In other arrests: A 39-year old Carson City man was arrested Thursday, June 26, 6:38 a.m. in the 2400 block of Poole Way on a misdemeanor charge of violation of pre-trial supervision. Officers were called to the residence after being dispatch to the area regarding a domestic dispute. Dispatch advised the man left the residence. Officers located the man and learned of a confirmed warrant, failure to pay fines and fees, issued June 23, 2014 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $3,000.
— A 47-year-old Carson City man was booked into jail Wednesday, 9:30 a.m. on a contempt of court warrant issued Oct. 3, 2013 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $295.
— A 61-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Wednesday, 10:05 a.m. in the area of Koontz and Baker streets on a misdemeanor warrant for embezzlement and exploitation of an elderly person. The warrant was issued on Jan. 24, 2014 out of Tahoe Township Court. Bail: $1,500. The woman was stopped for speeding when officers learned of the warrants through dispatch.
Those arrested and facing criminal charges are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
