Woman jailed after attempting to take $1,100 in merchandise from Carson City Walmart
A 29-year-old homeless woman was jailed Tuesday on suspicion of felony grand larceny after allegedly trying to steal $1,100 in merchandise from Walmart, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.
Ashley Ambrose also faces misdemeanor charges of obstructing and a warrant out of Reno for failure to appear in traffic court.
According to the arrest report, officers were called to the Market Street store at around 8 p.m. and learned from Walmart Loss Prevention that the woman attempted to push a cart full of merchandise through the west doors of the store.
She was stopped on the way out and became violent with security and other store employees as she attempted to push her way past them, the report states.
Walmart security and staff did not wish to press charges for battery, however. Bail: $26,098.
In other arrests: A 24-year-old Carson City man, Shawn Andrew Coughlin, was booked Tuesday, 8:40 a.m. on a felony warrant for burglary. Coughlin who is in jail on unrelated charges, was served with the warrant, issued Oct. 12, 2013 out of Carson City Justice Court, while in jail. Bail: $5,000.
— A 34-year-old Gardnerville man was booked Tuesday, 9:45 a.m. into Carson City Jail on a misdemeanor warrant for violation of conditions. The warrant was issued Dec. 22, 2009. He turned himself into deputies. Bail: $3,000.
— A 28-year-old Carson City woman was booked Tuesday into Carson City Jail on a failure to appear warrant issued June 13, 2014 out of justice court. Bail: $1,570.
Those arrested and facing criminal charges are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
