Carson City arrests: Man jailed after stealing loading dolly from Tractor Supply
A 56-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday on suspicion of felony grand larceny after allegedly stealing a green dolly from Tractor Supply Company, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
Thomas Andrew Olson was taken into custody in the 2000 block of Bordeaux Street at 7:25 p.m. According to the arrest report, deputies were called to Tractor Supply in reference to a larceny.
A male subject was seen taking the dolly and loading into a gray Plymouth minivan that was parked in a casino parking lot, according to the arrest report. A deputy met with the witness who stated he saw the man take the dolly and leave. The witness was able to give the deputy a license plate number.
The deputy then spoke with a store employee who stated he accidentally left the dolly outside after moving some pallets. The dolly was valued at around $1,000. The deputy checked the price of similar dollies using a Google shopping search engine and confirmed the value of the equipment.
Dispatch stated the vehicle license plate came back to the suspect living on Bordeaux Street and noted that a computer check showed he has a history of theft, the arrest report states.
A deputy arrived at the residence and observed the minivan in the driveway and the green dolly sitting next to the van. The officer knocked on the door and contacted Thomas. He was read his Miranda rights and said he understood. He admitted to stealing the dolly from the back side of Tractor Supply Company. He stated he made a mistake and wanted to make it right. Bail: $10,000.
