Oodles of Noodles Soars to New Heights
Come celebrate Dayton’s Italian and Chinese heritage, at the 13th annual Oodles of Noodles in Old Town, Saturday, June 21 and Sunday, June 22. The two-day event brings together great food, entertainment local talent and a variety of vendor and business booths.
The Oodles of Noodles Pasta Cook-off, featuring the culinary talents of local individuals and businesses, takes place one day only on Saturday, while other activities and events continue Sunday. Be a part of tasting and casting your vote for Peoples’ Choice Awards for $5 for adults and $3 for children. This competition, while friendly, is also fierce as cooks vie for top recognition.
“This year, Oodles of Noodles is bigger and better than ever, and we have made a point of making a difference,” said Chamber President Jojo Myers. “The Chamber is a non-profit and we want to give to a non-profit, which this year, is RSVP, which does so much for our community’s seniors. You gotta be part of giving to something bigger than yourself.”
The raffle prize this year will be a Dream Flight in a 1942 Boeing Stearman biplane. Tickets cost $5 available in advance at The Chamber office inside Greater Nevada Credit Union, or during the event at The Chamber booth or at the information table next to the plane, which will be on display.
“To have this as our raffle is so wonderful and is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” Myers said. “It was generously donated by Darryl and Carol Fisher of The Ageless Aviation Dream Foundation in Dayton.”
Entertainment for the weekend includes Battle Born Civil War Reenactors, the Bandits, Badges and Bloomers Gunfighters, music by The Boogie Daddies Band and Junction West and Lori’s Pony Express rides. Nevada River Wranglers will have a booth with interpretive activities for kids of all ages and a bounce house will be available over both days as well.
Sunday’s activities begin with the annual Pancake Breakfast from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., followed by the annual Pet Parade at 10 a.m. The breakfast is hosted by the Chamber and staffed by RSVP volunteers. New this year is The Greatest Whiskers Contest at noon. Entries for the Pet Parade and Whiskers contestants can show up ahead of time to participate.
Carson City RV will have several selected models on display and Carson City Toyota Scion will be on hand with new 2014 vehicles.
This year’s sponsors are The Webstaurant, Pioneer Crossing Casino and Nevada Appeal.
A portion of the proceeds from this event will go to support RSVP, Senior Programs, which engages seniors 55 and older in diverse volunteer positions, such as the Lifeline Program, Home Companions Program, Senior Farmers Markets, Transportation Programs and the Care Law Program. Dayton Chamber of Commerce is proud to help such a worthy organization and thank the community for its support.
