Carson City Sheriff's Office weekend arrest log

A 23-year-old Carson City man faces felony burglary and drug charges after allegedly walking out of Kohl's department store Sunday with merchandise, a Carson City Sheriff's Office deputy said.

Jac Michael Owen was arrested after store security observed him take a t-shirt and two pairs of shorts into the fitting room and then exiting with them concealed. The security guard stated the man then left the store without attempting to pay for the items, leaving in a 2002 Chrysler Prowler.

Officers conducted a traffic stop on the man and detained him in a nearby supermarket parking lot. He was wearing the two pairs of stolen shorts and the stolen shirt under his clothing, the arrest report states.

He was read his Miranda right and waived them. Officers informed him about why he was taken into custody and asked him if the extra clothes under his clothing were stolen from Kohl's. He replied yes, the arrest report states. He was asked if he bought anything inside the department store. He said he had not. He was asked how many times he had been convicted of petit larceny. The man stated twice but said he wasn't exactly sure, according to the arrest report.

The officer asked the man if he had any cash on him. He stated he had about $100 cash that was in his wallet. Officers searched the vehicle and located a small case with hypodermic devices, cotton swabs and two spoons, which appeared to have heroin residue on them and tested presumed positive on a NIK test. The spoons were booked into evidence as well as video footage of the incident.

Owen's criminal history includes four prior arrests for petit larceny, a warrant for petit larceny out of Reno, and admitted to possibly being twice convicted, the arrest report states. He faces the following charges: felony burglary, possession of a controlled substance, petit larceny and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail: $6,474.

The men were asked if they had been drinking. Leftwich said he had not but had taken an Adderall, the arrest report states. The officer asked for consent to search the vehicle and he agreed. Officers discovered about a gram of methamphetamine in a baggie, the arrest report states.

After he was Mirandized, Leftwich stated he got the drugs from McCoy who had given him the baggie after the traffic stop was initiated. McCoy requested to speak to a lawyer. Leftwich faces a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor DUI drugs. Bail: $3,637. McCoy faces a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance. Bail: $2,500.

According to the arrest report, the officer asked the woman if she knew why he had stopped her and the woman replied with slurred speech, "I'm home now, it doesn't matter right?" the arrest report states.

The woman attempted to give the officer money from her wallet. The officer told her he didn't want money but her driver's license. The woman then removed more money from her wallet and attempted to give it to the officer, according to the arrest report. The woman told the officer that she did not have a license with her.

The officer noticed a odor of alcohol coming from the woman. He asked her if she had been drinking and she told the officer she had not. Officers arrived and found three men bleeding from the forearms. The woman apparently was upset when she was told repeatedly not to remove items from a moving truck. The family was in the process of moving and packing the truck and the woman, who was looking for something, kept moving the boxes out of the truck.

After numerous boxes were thrown from the truck, the step father grabbed the woman by the arm attempting to escort her from the truck. The step father said once he placed his hand onto her arm the woman began to attack him, swinging her arms and with her fingernails cutting into his right forearm.
