Carson City and Lake Tahoe area road report through June 1

Here is the Carson City area road road report for the week of May 26 through June. 1, 2014. Ponderosa Drive has been permanently closed to public traffic south of E. Roland Street. Temporary access will be allowed for emergency vehicles and buses only.
 
The sidewalk on the south side of Robinson Street between Carson Street and Plaza Street will be closed from 6 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, May 28, and Thursday, May 29.
 
There will be street shoulder work on weekdays at the following locations:
– Silver Sage Drive between Sonoma Street and Colorado Street.
— Woodside Drive between Ladera Drive and Stanton Drive.
— Arrowhead Drive between Technology Way and Bowers Road (Thursday and Friday only).

In Douglas County road work will resume on State Route 207 Kingsbury Grade after being closed for three weeks. Kingsbury Grade into Lake Tahoe and Carson Valley is now open to through traffic with nighttime construction-related lane closures and delays to be expected, according to the Nevada Department of Transportation.

Elsewhere around Lake Tahoe and the Sierra through May 31: State Route 89 (Placer County): Work continues on a $41 million project from Tahoma to Tahoe City on Lake Tahoe’s West Shore that will upgrade storm water drainage and treatment systems, add curbs and gutters, resurface and realign the road and widen shoulders. Sections of the bike trail will also be revamped. Completion is expected in fall 2016. 
May 26-30

State Route 89 (Placer County) from Pine Street to Tahoe Tavern Road: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations around the clock from 7 p.m. Monday until 1 p.m. Friday for drainage and utility work.

State Route 89 (El Dorado County): Work continues on a $20 million water-quality project from 0.1 mile north of the Eagle Falls Sidehill Viaduct No. 5 in Emerald Bay to the Meeks Creek Bridge in Meeks Bay. This project will add new drainage features, curb and gutter, and resurface a nearly 7-mile stretch of the highway. Completion is expected in fall 2015.

May 27-30: State Route 89 (El Dorado County) from Valley View Drive to Sierra Drive: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Tuesday through Friday for drainage work.

State Route 28 (Placer County): Work continues on Placer County’s $36.7 million Kings Beach Commercial Core Improvement Project from State Route 267 to Chipmunk Street. The project will install curbs, sidewalks, roundabouts and drainage systems to enhance pedestrian and bicycle mobility, improve safety and provide water-quality improvements.

May 25-30: State Route 28 (Placer County) from Coon Street to Chipmunk Street: Westbound motorists can expect the #1 lane closed around the clock and eastbound and westbound motorists can expect intermittent traffic holds from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday for utility work and highway construction. 
U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) in South Lake Tahoe: Work is resuming on a $12.1 million water-quality and roadway improvement project from the "Y" intersection of Highways 50 and 89 to the South Lake Tahoe Airport adding curbs, gutters, sidewalks, new drainage systems and repaving the highway. Completion is expected in fall 2014.

May 27-30: U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from South Lake Tahoe Airport Road to F Street: Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect the # 1 lane and shoulder closed from 7 p.m. to 9 a.m. Tuesday through Friday for drainage work and alternating lane closures from F Street to the "Y" from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday for lane striping.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) through Meyers: Work continues on a $15.3 million water-quality project from Johnson Pass Road to Incline Road in Meyers to install new drainage systems, widen shoulders, add bike lanes and restore a section of the exiting bike path. No traffic-interfering work is scheduled on the highway.
U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) in Pollock Pines: Work continues on a $7.67 million project to replace the bridge over Sly Park Road. The project will also add sidewalks to both sides of Sly Park Road, curbs, curb ramps and gutters. Completion is expected in November 2014. No traffic-interfering work is scheduled on the highway.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County): Work continues on an $18.5 million project by El Dorado County to reconstruct the U.S. Highway 50 ramps to El Dorado Hills Boulevard and Latrobe Road in El Dorado Hills. Completion is expected in fall 2014.

May 27-31: U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) at Latrobe Road/El Dorado Hills Boulevard: Eastbound motorists can expect the off-ramp closed from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Tuesday through Friday and from 9 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday for drainage work.
U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County): Work is under way on a $57 million project by El Dorado County to construct a new overcrossing over U.S. Highway 50, new on- and off-ramps with signalized intersections, and new bicycle and pedestrian facilities at Silva Valley Parkway in El Dorado Hills. Completion is expected in 2016.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from Latrobe Road/El Dorado Hills Boulevard to Bass Lake Road: Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect alternating lane closures from Latrobe Road/El Dorado Hills Boulevard to the Carson Creek Bridge from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Tuesday through Friday for bridge work.

SHORT-TERM PROJECTS
State Route 28 (Placer County) from Sahara Drive to Onyx Street: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday for maintenance work.

State Route 28 (Placer County) from National Avenue to Secline Street: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday and 8 a.m. to noon Friday for utility work.

State Route 49 (El Dorado County) from Sierra Real Road to China Hill Road in El Dorado: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday for utility work.

State Route 49 (El Dorado County) from Ryan Drive to Commerce Way near Diamond Springs: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. Tuesday through Saturday for electrical work.

State Route 49 (El Dorado County) from Pedro Hill Road to Meadow View Acres Road in Cool: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday for roadway excavation.

State Route 49 (El Dorado County) from Meadow View Acres Road to Old Foresthill Road: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday for roadway excavation.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from Canal Street to Bedford Avenue in Placerville: Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect alternating lane closures from 11 p.m. Tuesday to 3 a.m. Wednesday for bridge work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) at the South Fork of the American River east of White Hall: Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect alternating lane closures from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday through Friday for bridge work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) at the Upper Truckee River Bridge and Trout Creek Bridge in South Lake Tahoe: Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect the alternating lane closures from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday through Friday for striping and inspection. 

State Route 89 (Placer/Nevada County) from West River Street to Deerfield Drive in Truckee: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. Tuesday through Friday for utility work.

State Route 193 (El Dorado County) from the State Route 49 junction in Cool to Sweetwater Trail: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday for roadway excavation.

State Route 193 (El Dorado County) from Penobscot Road to Main Street in Greenwood: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday for utility work.

State Route 193 (El Dorado County) from Traverse Creek Road to Garden Valley Road in Garden Valley: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday for highway construction.
