Welcome to the weekend, Carson City! Get things started with ska/reggae band, Taking Root at Sassafras; some African-infused blues at the Brewery Arts Center with Peter Joseph Burtt; or Atomica at the Casino Fandango. The Spoke Bar and Grill is rocking with the Remains, and the Chaser Band is playing at the Westside Pour House.

A three day weekend is beginning, and true to form, Carson City is seeing questionable weather. A blizzard, hurricane force winds, thunder and lightning, etc. always seem to show up just in time for this kick-off to summer. It’s Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s birthday, avoid the rain at home with some Sherlock Holmes. Or celebrate the 35th Anniversary of Pac-Man’s release with some video games. Johnny Carson hosted his very last episode of The Tonight Show on this day 33 years ago, so some nostalgic television binge watching may be in order.

Let someone else do the dancing at Comma Coffee, their monthly World Dance Open Floor starts at 8pm. Let the dancers of Akayo’s Dance Studio entertain you at Bob Boldrick Theater. Flex your pipes with karaoke at Whiskey Tavern or Open Mic at A to Zen.
