Carson High Announces Newly Inaugurated Officers
It was a night of firsts and lasts for the elected Student Council members of Carson High School. The formal inauguration took place at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the banquet room at the governor's mansion in Carson City and wrapped up at about 7:40 p.m.
The hour and forty minutes was filled with plenty of drama and excitement. Carson High School holds a very high standard in regards to its Student Council. The council has received the silver star award, the most prestigious of all awards within the state of Nevada Student Councils, ten of the last twelve years.
This year the council did not receive the award. The reward was not received due to the transition of having a new adviser, in which there was a communication error regarding where to present the evidence for the award and the council did not obtain its well deserved certificate.
Carson High School's 28 Student Council members said their last goodbyes to their formally elected positions, but as the old left the new entered. There are 31 newly inaugurated members who will take on the task of organizing and running the vast majority of the non-academic events in the coming school year. There are seven student body officers and six officers within each of the four classes rounding off to the eager 31 who are ready to take on the challenge of forging involvement at Carson High School to its peak.
The seven student body officers who will lead the rest of the council into the following school year are: Student Body President Jared Hearn, Student Body Vice President Kyle Kunz, Student Body Secretary Abbey Dudley, Student Body Treasurer Sonia Arevalo, Student Body Historian Bailee Barber, Student Body Public Relations Officer Jessica Basa, and School Board Representative Jake Jones.
