Greater Nevada Credit Union unveils new CHS digital marquee during snowy ribbon cutting
Under snowy skies, representatives from Greater Nevada Credit Union joined Carson High School staff in a ribbon cutting ceremony Monday morning in Carson City to recognize a new digital marquee that was made possible through a donation from GNCU.
Carson City School District and Carson High School were able to replace the old sign with a digital marquee out front of Carson High School after Greater Nevada Credit Union donated nearly $25,000.
GNCU previously donated funds for the initial sign that has since been replaced. GNCU has maintained an educational branch inside of the school since 1996 and provides “Senator Debit Cards” to students who maintain accounts with the credit union. GNCU also continues to support other school programs including band, athletics, safe grad, culinary arts and much more.
“With the installation of this new digital marquee, Carson High School will be better able to communicate events to students, parents and the community,” CCSD Superintendent Richard Stokes said last week. “We have greatly appreciated all the support from Greater Nevada Credit Union and look forward to a continued relationship.”
Earlier this year, GNCU presented a check for nearly $2,200 to the Carson High School Band program during the Band-O-Rama concert Thursday, March 15.
“Over the past several years, Greater Nevada Credit Union has partnered with our high school to help support various needs,” Carson High Principal Tasha Fuson said last week. “GNCU has been a constant and dedicated partner to the school and our local community.”
