Sierra Nevada Bass Club Folsom Lake Tournament and upcoming events
The Sierra Nevada Bass Club fished Folsom Lake, Calif., on March 30th with 6 boats and 12 Anglers with all but 1 angler catching and releasing a variety of Black Bass species that were in various stages of spawn.
Rain was predicted last Saturday, but didn't deter the Bass bite.
The largest fish of each species were a 5-15 Largemouth, a 5-03 Spotted both caught and released by Ted Doyal, of Minden and a 2-14 Smallmouth by Ried Bridges of Carson City.
In all, 28 Bass totaling some 55-pounds were released following the weigh-in at Granite Bay.
Ted Doyal won both the tournament and caught and released the big Bass.
All Club tournaments are sanctioned by the State of California Department of Fish and Wildlife or NDOW as location requires.
Ted's final total of 5 Bass weighed 15-15 after several culls.
Larry Ashby, of Sparks, was second with a 5 Bass weighing 9-03 followed by Todd Kluever, of Gardnerville, with 5 Bass weighing 8-05.

To join the Club, come to one of the regular monthly meetings at Scheels this year. The next meeting is April 4th at Scheels beginning at 7 PM, followed by a Tournament at Butt Valley Reservoir near Lake Almanor this coming Saturday, April 6th.
The club has room for non-boaters, but tries to place boaters and non boaters together in a draw format so all anglers get the opportunity to learn from one another in a friendly and competitive atmosphere.
Normal monthly attendance is waived for those with a 50-mile or greater drive and points are awarded for events with several awards being presented at year end for angling skill and luck (both good and bad).
For information, visit the web site at www.nvbass.com or contact the Fishing Shop Manager at Scheels, Cass Santos or call Ried Bridges, at (775) 443-5728.
There are 8 remaining tournaments and 2 Club Opens for 2013. Cost is $50 a year and $10 per tournament fished. Opens are separate, and as implied, open to the public.
