Glass Slippers return in Youth Theatre Carson City’s Cinderella
Youth Theatre Carson City is excited to announce our upcoming production of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella, America’s favorite adaptation of the classic tale, to be held April 5-7 in the Bob Boldrick Theatre at the Carson City Community Center.
The cast is comprised of over 75 local youth ages five to eighteen, who play all the classic characters including Cinderella, her Prince Charming, The Wicked Stepmother and Stepsisters, the magical Fairy Godmother, and a host of other colorful characters who bring Rodger’s and Hammerstein’s masterwork to life!
The timeless enchantment of a magical fairy tale is reborn with the Rodgers & Hammerstein hallmarks of originality, charm and elegance. Originally presented on television in 1957 starring Julie Andrews, Rodgers & Hammerstein's CINDERELLA was the most widely viewed program in the history of the medium, and is currently making its Broadway debut! As adapted for the stage, with great warmth and more than a touch of hilarity, the hearts of children and adults alike still soar when the slipper fits.
Starring in Youth Theatre Carson City’s production are Taylor Koop, 15, and Anastasia Bevins, 14, both students at Carson High School, who share the role of Cinderella. The production also features Brent Lauderbaugh, 15, as The Prince; Wesley Sonnemaker, 13, and Makayl Holloway, 13, as the King and Queen; Kayleigh Remington, 15, as The Wicked Stepmother; Kaeli Biggin, 16, and Delaney Lauderbaugh, 12, as the Wicked Stepsisters; and Darby Beckwith, 15, as The Fairy Godmother.
“It has been incredible working with these incredible young people and watching them grow throughout the rehearsal process,” commented Andie Anderson, Artistic Director of Youth Theatre Carson City and Director of Cinderella. “I am so proud of the hard work and dedication each one of these many young people have put in to this project, and I can’t wait for audiences to witness their accomplishments.”
Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella will run April 5, 6 at 7pm and April 6, 7 at 2pm in the Bob Boldrick Theatre at the Carson City Community Center, located at 851 E. William Street in Carson City, NV. For tickets and information, please visit www.youththeatrecarsoncity.com or contact 775-882-0358.
