Online version of Nevada big game application book now available
The Nevada Big Game Seasons and Applications Regulations magazine, the booklet used to apply for big game tags in the Silver State, is now available online.
The annual publication includes all of the approved season dates and hunter choice numbers for the upcoming 2017-18 big game hunting seasons. Go here for the application.
Two important changes to application eligibility were recently adopted by the Nevada Board of Wildlife Commissioners. Beginning with the 2017 tag application, the waiting period for antelope with horns longer than ears and antlered elk have been standardized regardless of harvest success; antelope with horns longer than ears now has a three-year waiting period and antlered elk now has a seven-year waiting period whether you harvest an animal or not.
For antlered elk hunters that are currently in a five-year waiting period, your wait will not be altered. For those of you that are currently in a waiting period that exceeds three years for antelope or seven years for elk, you get the benefit of the reduced waiting period.
Some additions of note include a combo antlerless management elk tag option added to both the Resident Junior Mule Deer Hunt 1107 and the Nonresident Mule Deer Hunt 1331 for Unit Group 072-077, 079.
A Nonresident Mountain Goat Hunt 7251 in Unit 102 has also been reopened. Archery and muzzleloader antlered mule deer hunts in Unit 015 were moved to early fall seasons. To see all of the changes for the upcoming seasons, check out the “What’s New for 2017” section on page 19.
