Carson City man jailed after allegedly calling 911 six times on girlfriend's phone
A 24-year-old man was arrested Wednesday morning on suspicion of misusing 911 after allegedly calling the Carson City dispatch center six times without speaking and then ignoring efforts to pick up the phone on subsequent call backs.
According to the Carson City Sheriff's Office arrest report, a deputy made contact with the man at 3:23 a.m. inside an apartment in the 500 block of Country Village. The man denied he had called 911. Officers spoke with other witnesses inside the apartment who verified the man had taken his girlfriend's phone and locked himself in the bedroom.
The man later stated that he could have called 911 but didn't exactly remember. Dispatch confirmed the telephone number used to call 911 belonged to the man's girlfriend. He was arrested at 3:54 a.m. and booked into jail on the gross misdemeanor charge. Bail: $2,500.
In other arrests: A 22-year-old Sparks man was arrested Tuesday, 9:26 a.m. near the intersection of East Fifth and Warm Springs. The man faces three misdemeanor warrant charges out of Sparks Municipal Court issued Feb. 24, 2014 for traffic violations, domestic battery, disturbing the peace and failure to comply.
According to the arrest report, officers made contact with the man after arriving at the intersection where the vehicle he was driving was disabled and with its hood up. Dispatch advised the patrol deputy of the outstanding bench warrants. Bail: $2,576.
— A 26-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday, 3:55 p.m. in the 1900 block of H Street on misdemeanor warrants out of Carson City Justice Court and East Fork Township for probation violation and failure to appear on traffic charges.
According to the arrest report, a deputy arrived at the residence and was told by the man's mother that he wasn't home. The woman allowed the deputy to search the residence where the man was found hiding in the closet. Bail: $3550.
Those arrested and facing charges are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
