Man arrested on Carson City warrant charge found hiding underneath table
A 29-year-old Carson City woman and 27-year-old man were arrested Thursday, each facing two misdemeanor warrant counts for failure to appear.
The pair were arrested in the 2100 block of Airport Road at 8:05 p.m. According to the arrest report, officers with the Carson City Sheriff's Office Special Enforcement Team conducted a warrant service on the woman at the residence.
The officers were advised by the resident owner who said the woman was in a garage in the back of the property and agreed to call out for her. Two deputies walked back to the garage and later reported they had knocked on the door and it was later opened by the property owner's son and the 29-year-old woman, the arrest report states.
The 27-year-old man was a known associate of the woman with two warrants for his arrest out of Carson City Justice Court. He was found in the home hiding under a table. Bail for the woman: $1,330 and bail for the man, $1,000.
In other arrests:
A woman was taken into custody by Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies Thursday on suspicion of misdemeanor shoplifting and obstructing officers after allegedly attempting to steal $200 worth of merchandise from Raley's.
The 54-year-old Indio, Calif., was observed at around 1:30 p.m. taking several items of merchandise and concealing them in an empty large black purse, the arrest report states. The woman also was seen selecting and placing three door mats underneath a Raley's shopping cart she was pushing. She then allegedly pushed the shopping cart with the door mats and exited the store's north doors, passing all the store's cash registers and made no attempt to purchase the concealed merchandise in her purse or the door mats, the arrest report states.
The woman was detained outside and escorted back inside to the security office where all the merchandise, valued at $202.96, was recovered. Deputies advised the woman of her Miranda rights which she told the officer she understood and spoke with the officers.
The woman admitted that she took the property and had only $11 on her as well as an empty purse with no photo identification from any state, check book, credit/debit cards. The woman told officers she doesn't live in Nevada and said she had no type of proof to verify her identity. The woman said she didn't remember her Social Security number and gave officers what was later to be determined as a false birthdate, the arrest report states.
At jail the woman told the booking deputy that her birthdate was in February 1956. Deputies asked the woman about her real birth date, and the woman maintained that she told the officer her real birth date at Raley's before she was arrested. The officer added a charge of obstructing to the arrest sheet. Bail: $764.
— A 64-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday, 4:46 p.m. at Carson and Long streets on a misdemeanor charge of failure to appear warrant on a traffic violation. Bail: $215.
— A 48-year-old Las Vegas woman was booked into jail on Thursday and faces misdemeanor warrant out of Carson City Justice Court issued on May 28, 2013 on a charge of violation of a suspended sentence, failure to attend mental health court. Bail: $3,000.
— An 18-year-old Carson City woman was booked into jail Thursday, 6:25 p.m. on a misdemeanor charge of failure to appear in traffic court. Bail: $335.
— A 32-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Thursday, 9 p.m. in the 2800 block of Carmine Drive on a misdemeanor warrant for petit larceny. Bail: $250.
Those arrested and facing charges are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
