Greetings from your Downtown 20/20 Group

My name is Dana Lee Fruend and I am the President of the 20/20 business group. I have lived in Nevada 36 years and I am a seven-year Carson City resident.

I am a business co-owner and the Executive Marketing Director for Agency 36 and the Marketing Director for the Carson HorseShoe Club. Agency 36 publishes the popular Carson Quarterly, featuring weekly and monthly events, activities, shopping, arts, restaurants and pubs.

This summer Agency 36, in partnership with the Carson City Visitors Bureau, will be introducing you to the “Carson City Experience” also known as the CCX. This will be launched in August at the Sesquicentennial Fair. We will be showcasing “Augmented Reality” technology to Carson City in the form of a very unique tour. Making Carson City “the world’s first Augmented Reality City.” That folks is a little bit about me and my business.

Our 20/20 businesses group is about promoting our businesses and our beautiful Capital City. We are working at creating new events and activities that draw in and attract more tourism to our community. We are working with the City and other organizations to make Carson City an even more exciting destination.

We are about doing all we can to retain what we have and entice new visitors and businesses to our community. With all of that said, I would like to start sharing with you all of the great places, events and activities we have going on in the weeks and months ahead. I will write about, food, shows, events and businesses. I want you to be informed and know the websites and publications that are talking about us too.

I want you to know about all of the fun you can have right here in your own backyard. A unique and special backyard. Not everybody gets to boast “I live in the Capital City” — a rich and historic, novel worthy and legendary city.

Let’s get started!

First up, let me boast about the variety of restaurants in the Capital City that are in the Downtown Historic District, like Adele’s. Fresh, creative and eclectic cuisine, Adele’s has an elegant feel and when the weather is agreeable, a lovely outdoor seating area. The menu is full of creative faire and oh so fresh daily specials. The Staff is excellent at explaining the many delectable dishes with ease and encourages dessert and coffee, really, great, coffee after your meal. Chef Charlie Abowd is a lovely, kind soul whose joy in life flows into his food, family and community.

Carson City is blessed to be so unique and have one of a kind businesses and shops. So, let’s walk Downtown! There are many choices for gifts, food, shopping and entertainment. You can shop for Home and Garden Decor at Touched by Angels, antiques at Due Sorella’s, Chateau Bliss and Hannafin’s.

The Purple Avocado offers beautiful gift cards, jewelry, nik-naks, signs and wind chimes. Carson City is growing and expanding in wellness resource and spiritual healing centers, like the Goddess Shoppe located on East John. Reiki, Astrological charts, readings and they have a new Aroma therapy mixing bar you have got to check out, I love the Lavender soap!

If you are looking for beautiful and unusual Art or handcrafted one of kind pieces of jewelry, handbags, or Felt hats? A local favorite and must visit is the beautiful Artsy Fartsy Art Gallery. The Heart of Downtown also gives you, Rocking and Rolling, a gift shop with gem stones, made in Nevada Products, books, fine jewelry and cool signs.

Now for a few good Pubs and a wee bit o gaming. Downtown has seen many changes and upgrades through the years and the West side Pour House on Telegraph is one of them. Formerly Mo and Sluggo’s. Owner’s Rowan Colgan and Dan Shaeen have been renovating and updating their pub with repurposed materials and lovely old pictures of Carson City.

The pub features Mexican food from Tony’s Taqeria and specializes in fresh made salsas. They have Live bands on most weekends and Karaoke. When Rowan is bartending, have him make you a fresh squeezed Margarita, the man has a gift! How about trying your luck?

The Casinos downtown offers some tasty food and fun. Consider a date night Downtown, enjoy a tasty cocktail, perhaps a good Steak or Prime Rib, some music and even dancing on the weekends. There are four in the Downtown area, the Horseshoe Club, Cactus Jacks, the Nugget and a little south of them is the Carson Station. All are unique and have different offerings and weekly specials.

And Last I want to give you some Online resources to check out on Carson Now. Scroll down and click on the Carson Quarterly button for weekly and monthly events and activities.

Online Carson City TV shows: Capital Crossfire and Women to Women and coming soon … TnT in Nevada! A look at food, music, pubs, shows, events and activities in our area. Brought to you by Agency 36 of course!
