Warm weather brings out motorcycles, bicycles and seasonal road risks
The weather being warm and without much in the way of precipitation, Carson City is having an increase in motorcycle and bicycle traffic on and alongside the roadways. These are not modes of transportation that we are used to seeing in the dead of winter and the risk of motorcycle and cyclist crashes will increase.
We have talked about the importance of paying attention to your surroundings when operating a motor vehicle so that you may be better prepared for the unexpected. This is not only important for the driver but, for the motorcycle rider and cyclist as well.
With the amount of dirt and debris that is on the roadway due to past storms, those of you operating two wheeled vehicles need to be aware of the dangers that this creates when riding upon the streets and highways.
A little loss of traction can lead to a crash so be extra careful and play close attention to the road ahead of you. While the weather may be cooperating to extend your ride time, the roadway may not. Ride carefully and as always, use common courtesy when sharing the streets and highways with others.
