Varsity Boys Break Even Against Hug
The Senators of Carson High School took on the Hawks of Hug High School Friday night on the Carson home basketball court. The Senators had just come off a frustrating 33-36 loss against Spanish Springs, but held to their promise and showed different results in this match up.
In the beginning of this match up it seemed like the Senators hadn't quite recovered from their loss on Thursday when Hug went up 5-0 very early, but the Senators made a very crowd pleasing comeback for the remainder of the first quarter to leave a score after one quarter at 16-9.
The second quarter was all Carson as they boosted their lead slightly to 31-22. Carson continued to explode through out the third quarter leaving behind a 49-28 score at the end of three. Just when it seemed like the Senators were going to start slowing down, they compounded their lead even greater to 68-39 when the final buzzer sounded.
The Senators are now 1-1 on the season and next contest will feature the Reed Raiders on Tuesday Dec. 23, 5 p.m. at Reed.
"It's nice to come out and shoot the ball well early," said head coach Carlos Mendeguia. "The best part about talking to the players about the loss (Thursday) was being able to play today and get the bad taste out of our mouths and not have to worry about it."
