Food For Thought Announces New Executive Director
Food For Thought Inc., a local nonprofit organization, would like to announce the selection of Marlene Maffei, as its new executive director. The selection was made after an open application process, during which Maffei served as operations manager for the organization.
“We are very pleased to announce this appointment,” reports Lynette Conrad Board President, along with the entire Board of Directors. “Marlene will bring great leadership and creativity to the program and strengthen community relationships. She has served the volunteer nonprofit sector in Carson City for over 10 years.”
“I look forward to continuing to serve and partner with the area in this new capacity," said Maffei. "Food For Thought plays a key roll in providing a resource to help prevent childhood hunger. I am dedicated to developing sustainability and growth for the organization. I have always had a passion for children, and being in a position to help prevent such an unfortunate reality in our community is truly a blessing.”
Marlene has been a Carson City resident since 1997; she and her husband Jason have four children. She has been vested in the community with the schools, and sports organizations serving at all levels of involvement.
Food For Thought is a local 501(c)(3) charity providing nutritious meals to school-aged children over the weekend, who would otherwise go hungry. With the collaborated efforts of the Carson City School District, outlying districts, and a dedicated volunteer base, the organization is able to assist hundreds of children weekly.
