August Authors Event at Dayton Valley Library
On Saturday, August 16 from 3-5 PM, the Friends of the Dayton Valley Library will host an author’s book discussion and sales at the Dayton Branch Library in Dayton, Nev. Wine and beer will be available for purchase. A donation of $3.00 will be asked at the door and the price of admission will entitle the patron to one glass of wine or a beer. Children are welcome for no charge as long as they are accompanied by an adult.
Five local area writers will be available to sign books and talk about how they started writing. They will also discuss the subject and plot of their books. The writers include Christopher Coake from Reno, Lin Wilder from Smith Valley, Sally Whipple Mosher Mooney from Carson City, Suzanne Morgan Williams from Washoe Valley, and Ron Bell from Silver Springs.
The subject material of the books is diverse and includes adventure, suspense, medical mystery, historical nonfiction, and a slice of western ranch life. Book selections include adult reading, children’s books and one young-adult selection.
“We are planning this event as an adult venue so that Dayton residents have a place to go and relax and enjoy themselves”, stated Marty Lewis, President of the Friends of the Dayton Valley Library. “Patrons will be able to relax and enjoy a glass of wine and leisurely visit and talk with local authors”.
Amy Geddes, the Lyon County Library Director noted, “We are very happy with the efforts of our staff and our Friends of the Library groups in Lyon County. Libraries can be resources for local residents and provide opportunities to experience culture in a relaxed and affordable manner”.
