The National Weather Service in Reno reports a Red Flag Warning within Carson City and other areas of Northern and Western Nevada. This warning indicates that critical fire conditions may occur because of the harsh lightening that will follow up during tonight’s weather, along with light showers. The affected area for this kind of danger is within the west central portion of the Nevada Basin and range. The unstable weather is expected to last through Saturday.
Gusty winds of 50 mph may be associated with the thunderstorms and continue along the Sierra Front west, according to the weather service. Increasing monsoon moisture may lead to thunderstorms over the Sierra and Western Nevada this evening.
Today’s weather stats at CarsonWeather.comshows that this afternoon was 4 degrees cooler than yesterday and earlier this week. The cooling trend is expected to continue with highs of 87 to 91 degrees over the next several days. There are currently no other alerts for the Carson City area.
