When the announcement of the origination of B'Sghetti's restaurant became the front page story on the Reno Gazette Journal in Feb of 1997, it was the recognition of lifelong goals and dreams. Nearly 15 yrs later our fate has been realized. B'Sghetti's will cease operations on, or before, Thursday June 30, 2011.
We have many people to thank for our success, far too many to list. We have been a part of hundreds if not thousands of special events, and we cannot even begin to pay appropriate respect to those who trusted us with their memories and meals. With our "never say no" policy, we would like to believe that we have played an integral part in the enrichment of downtown Carson City, and are very proud of the fact that we have been able to financially help countless schools, charities, and organizations.
We have formed a tight-knit family amongst our loyal and dedicated employees. We are closing with nearly the exact kitchen staff that we opened with which is unheard of in our industry. We have a talented and experienced service staff that has executed our vision tirelessly. We have employed valedictorians, doctors, lawyers, teachers, small business owners, and countless productive members of society. Currently we employ what I consider to be the finest team that we have ever assembled. We will deeply miss being a part of their everyday lives.
We would like thank our property owners, mentors and friends, Art and Marlene Hannafin, and John and Denise LoGiurato. They have far surpassed our expectations of what role a landlord can play in the success of a restaurant. We wish you nothing but the very best.
We choose not to blame economic factors for our closure, but accept the responsibility and consequences that are inherent with operating a small business in which boundaries are defined by those elected to lead. We are confident that we presented the best possible product to you, our respected guest, and explored every conceivable opportunity to proceed. Given our current circumstances (internal, and external) we no longer feel that we can effectively operate this concept with the diligence, determination, manpower, and product quality that you have come to expect from us.
Downtown Carson City is at a crossroads. It is our hope that the residents of our city will rally behind the remaining independent operators who have risked so much and worked so conscientiously to incorporate necessary change for the well being of our City. The bypass is nearly complete, the Library project continues to be a possibility, the greenhouse project is a reality. The city has made a commitment to outdoor street life with the addition of the community ice rink, the organic farmers market, Christmas tree lighting, the Taste of Downtown, Nevada Day and various concert series. There will always be those who try to thwart achievement though hateful words and negative actions, but there are far more of you who havemoptimistic reason to believe that our city will pull through this economic downturn in much better shape than we entered it.
Lastly, we would like to sincerely thank each one of you who chose to spend your hard earned money with us. It is unreasonable to think that we met or surpassed all of your expectations, but that was always our objective. It was our belief that through quality and consistency, you wouldn't hesitate to return, or recommend our restaurant to others, and you did just that. As for the numerous parties that we still have in the books, we will be contacting you to help you make other arrangements.
Effective immediately, B'Sghetti's will be closed for all lunches except for pre-scheduled parties. We will open for business beginning at 4:00pm daily and close at 9:00pm. We will honor gift certificates and valid coupons. We will remain in operation through the evening of June 30th.
Plan:b has been our refuge throughout its existence. The talent and creative artistry in the Reno and Carson City area is nothing short of brilliant. This tightly knit musical fraternity and their faithful audiences are very protective of those establishments willing to assume risk and support their passion. We are pleased to announce that Plan:b Micro-Lounge will remain open. We vow to do our very best to continue bringing you extraordinary performances.
With a genuine heartfelt thank you.... and a mountain of fond memories... we appreciate the opportunity to serve you....
Sincerely,
Scott Doerr
Owner/Operator
