Drivers Beware. Throughout the year the Lake Tahoe Basin experiences fluctuations in the number of visitors and vehicle traffic. The winter ski and summer recreation seasons bring more vehicles to the Tahoe Basin, which increases the risk of bears being struck by vehicles. Bear-vehicle collisions pose a risk to bears, people and property.

A single fixed-wing aircraft went down in Lake Tahoe Saturday morning at Rubicon Bay.
The two people on board were rescued by citizen boaters in the area, with one of those from the plane having a serious head injury, according to El Dorado County Sheriff's Office (EDSO) Captain Michael Lensing.
