Due to anticipated stormy skies, the Slide Back Retro Ski Party has been postponed to Feb. 20th. Mt. Rose invites skiers and boarders to leave the new millennium behind and travel back in time to the decade that gave us everything from Pac Man to Prozac. Breaking all of the ski fashion laws may even earn skiers and boarders new gear in the "Most Fashionable" contest at the Winters Creek Lodge. All of the action takes place at high noon on Saturday, Feb. 20th.
Get in Your Turns Before the Super Bowl
Our TVs will be showing Super Bowl XLIV through the first half. You better believe that we'll be watching the Indianapolis Colts and the New Orleans Saints battle it out for the Super Bowl XLIV title on our big screen TVs at Mt. Rose, but why not get a few turns in on the mountain, too? The forecast says that snow is likely to fall on Feb. 7th (taken from the NOAA).
Remembering Keston Ramsey (of Ramsey's Run)
Mt. Rose lost an old friend with the passing of Keston Ramsey on Jan. 28, 2010 at the age of 101. Ramsey opened Sky Tavern Ski Lodge in 1945 and was key in shaping the mountain and surrounding area (Kes actually cut Ramsey's Run). In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to the Reno Junior Ski Program in memory of Keston Ramsey, P.O. Box 709, Reno, NV 89505.
