Life Bridge Event sponsored by Abowd & Rose Financial Group
Living in Northern Nevada over this past month, we’ve been the sad witnesses to how tragedy can affect the lives of so many. The horrible shooting at the Carson IHOP that left 4 dead and injured 7, followed by the fatal accident at the air races that took the lives of 11 people and injured more than 70, is a sad and real reminder of how short our time on this earth can be. Left behind are spouses, children, grandchildren and other friends. Along with the unexpected death of their loved one, often comes with a loss of income and other unexpected expenses. The emotional wounds may never heal and the financial burden can be unrecoverable to most families leaving them in a very helpless situation. Often times the state may step in and there are other government programs, but qualifying isn’t necessarily guaranteed and even with that, may not be enough to keep a family a float.
Part of what we do is plan for life’s unexpected events; unfortunately financial planning or even insurance planning is not an affordable luxury for everyone. Many are faced with the day to day challenge of paying for rent and putting food on the table. The sad fact is for the majority of our society, financial planning means budgeting for the essentials of their daily living activities. In thinking of my own life with a wonderful wife who cares for our daughter at home, a tragic accident that caused me to lose my ability to provide for them would be an unbearable thought. Fortunately, I’m in a position that I am able to provide for these unexpected events, but that is not reality for most people today. Our mission statement at Abowd and Rose Financial Group is “Part of Feeling Good About Your Finances, Is Part of Feeling Good About Your Life”. So we have decided to help in the best way we know how, with their finances.
In teaming up with Mass Mutual, we are starting a program called Life Bridge which offers free life insurance coverage for the benefit of your children’s education to qualifying families. Mass Mutual is offering free term life insurance to cover an insured parent or legal guardian for a period of 10 years. Those who qualify won’t ever have to pay a premium and they will be able to feel good about their finances knowing those who they love are protected. Under the Life Bridge program, if the parent or guardian passes away during the 10 years of coverage, a $50,000 life insurance benefit will be paid to a trust administered by the Mass Mutual Trust Company to cover the educational expenses of their eligible children.
In the face of probably the toughest economic situation many of us have ever had to live through, we at Abowd & Rose Financial Group feel like we need to do more. At this event for qualifying families, we are going to donate a $50 Walmart gift card. In addition, for every qualifying child, Abowd & Rose will be donating $50 to a scholarship fund set up to be given to a Carson High School graduate in need of assistance, and has achieved both scholastically and demonstrated excellent leadership skills. We believe very passionately about what we do. We also believe actions carry the loudest voice so we hope this will make an impact. Our goal is to do this every year and we hope to generate a $3,000 scholarship for the deserving senior.
We’re not sure what the turnout is going to be so anyone who would like to volunteer for this event, it would be very much appreciated. We plan on having food at the event, a bounce house, face painting and pony rides.
We’re spreading the word through the school districts, the boys and girls club, the Nevada Appeal and the radio. Help us spread the word, please tell family, colleagues, members of your church, any and everyone who you feel might benefit. Help us make a difference. The memories of this past week will be with us all for a while, but what we do as a community to grow from them can benefit the lives of so many for years to come. Please help us in helping people feel better about their finances by giving them the gift of peace of mind.
Please see the attached flyer for the event information on Saturday October 15th and the eligibility requirements.
Thanks
