Carson Victory Rollers host roller derby double header Saturday

Come support your local roller derby league and check out this double header on Saturday, May 13. We’ll be skating at the Carson Community Center at 2pm. Doors open at 1pm so you can grab your seat before they fill up.

The event will start with a junior mixer scrimmage and will be followed by your very own Carson Victory Rollers vs. Faultline Derby Devilz.

Seven local bowlers were inducted in the second class of the Carson Country Bowling Association Hall of Fame at their annual meeting on Saturday, April 29, at Carson Lanes. Carson Country is the local association of the U.S. Bowling Congress.

Carson students represent at 2023 Tah-Neva Middle School Wrestling Championships

Middle school wrestlers from northern Nevada gathered at Pershing County High School in Lovelock Saturday, March 25, for the 2023 Tah-Nevada Middle School Wrestling Championship Tournament. In total, there were 261 wrestlers representing 17 schools, from White Pine County to Truckee, Calif. Carson Middle School and Eagle Valley Middle School sent 10 and 14 wrestlers respectively, representing Carson City Schools.

Local Dayton High senior to represent USA in international track and field meet in Australia

Molly McGrew has been invited to represent the USA in the Coast 2 Coast International Athletics Track and Field meet, held in Queensland, Australia on July 15-16 2023 at the Gold Coast Performance Centre.

Molly has lived in Dayton, Nev., her whole life and for the past 4 years has attended Dayton High School. During her years at Dayton High she has participated in basketball, soccer and track.

Silver Oak Senior Men's Club Is Accepting Applications

Silver Oak Senior Men’s Club will be returning to play at the best maintained course in Carson City in 2023. The club is open to all senior men, 55 years and older. Tournament play will be every Thursday starting April 6 through October 26. Shotgun start times will vary based on time of year, but will center around 8am.

Carson City Parks and Rec, Sierra Nevada Cornhole to host inaugural St. Patrick’s Day Cornhole Tournament

Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space is joining forces with Sierra Nevada Cornhole to host the inaugural St. Patrick’s Day Cornhole Tournament.

The event takes place Sat., March 18 at the Carson City Mac, with registration from 12 to 1:30 p.m., and bags will fly at 2 p.m.

CARSON CITY — The Carson High Ski Team capped off its season by sending four boys and two girls to the state championship races at Kirkwood this past weekend including Samuel Barker (sophomore), Sierra Frame (junior), Sean Harrington (freshman), Juri Rother (junior), Madison Lind Smith (junior) and Mark Walther (freshman).

Carson City's Shook and Bowman bring home gold from Youth Masters Bowling Tournament

Shane Shook defeated Hunter Mueller 191-133 to become the champion at the Northern Nevada Masters youth tournament last Sunday, January 22.

The tournament was held at Gold Dust West Bowling Center and was sponsored by the Carson Country U.S. Bowling Congress association.

Carson City Special Olympics athletes take on hoops and basketballs, volunteers needed

Each year, Carson City Special Olympics athletes participate, learn and grow within six different sports: basketball, track and field, swimming, bocce, flag football and bowling.

Currently, athletes are in their basketball season and practice every Tuesday at Eagle Valley Middle School.

Carson City 8th grade soccer goalie headed to Dallas Cup, fundraiser underway for Sierra Surf team

The Sierra Surf Boys 2008/U15 soccer team has been accepted to the prestigious weeklong Dallas Cup in Dallas, Texas in April. Cameron Woods, an 8th grader at Eagle Valley Middle School in Carson City, is the starting goalkeeper for the Reno-based Surf team.

Three Carson City students punch their way to the top

CARSON CITY — A sixth grader from Carson Middle School and a pair of Carson High School sophomore boxing athletes have punched their way to the top, winning both state (in Las Vegas, Nov. 19, 2022) and regional championships (in Compton, Calif., Jan. 6-8, 2023) and are now gearing up to compete at the national level at the Silver Gloves National Finals, hosted in Independence, Mo. Feb. 9-11, 2023.

Carson Middle School 7th grade basketball team win championship in undefeated season

The Carson Middle School Boys 7th grade basketball team was victorious Saturday night in the 2022 Tah-Neva Basketball Tournament at the Douglas County Community Center.

The undefeated 7th grade Solons beat Eagle Valley Middle School, Carson Valley Middle School and Pau-Wa-Lu Middle School to bring home the first place trophy. The final game score against Pau-Wa-Lu was 58 to 40.

Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe officially cut the ribbon on its new Lakeview Express chairlift on Thursday.

The $7.5M Lakeview zone project was the largest capital improvement project in the resort’s history and changes the way skiers and riders experience the mountain.
