Carson City Cub Scouts Collecting Christmas Trees for Camp Fundraising, Wildlife Sanctuary

Carson City Cub Scout Troop 341 of Carson City is asking community members for donations to help send our local scouts to cub scout camp this summer in exchange for recycling Christmas trees, which will be donated to a wildlife sanctuary for animal enrichment.

Carson City Community Support Services Grant now taking Applications for 2021

Carson City is now accepting Letters of Intent to Apply for our Community Support Services Grant (CSSG). Non-profit organizations and government agencies are qualified to fill out the Letter of Intent. Projects or programs must be for Carson City residence. In addition, your agencies proposal must meet one of the following critical needs of the community:

Lyon County, Reno Police and FBI investigate recent rash of ATM thefts in Dayton, Reno

The Lyon County Sheriff's Office along with the Reno Police Department are investigating a potential connection between two recent burglary incidents in which two entire ATM machines were stolen from South Reno and Dayton.

According to Lyon County Sheriff's Office Detective Lieutenant Jerry Pattinson, the two local law enforcement agencies are looking into a concrete connection between the two offenses, and yesterday the FBI was on scene in Dayton.

Carson City man stated his second amendment rights were violated after allegedly crashing car while intoxicated, leaving scene

A 36-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the 1500 block of Appaloosa Ct. for DUI first and leaving the scene of an accident with property damage after allegedly losing control of his vehicle and crashing into a fence.

Carson City man arrested at hospital for having methamphetamine in his system

A 40-year-old Carson City man was arrested at the hospital early Thursday morning for parole and probation violation and a Legal 2000 per the hospital.

Carson City Historical Society spearheads campaign to save Adele's building

The Carson City Historical Society Board held an emergency meeting on Dec. 21 to discuss the eminent demolition of Adele’s, and strategized on how this historic building could be preserved.

The board voted to pursue a fund raising campaign to work with the community to preserve the 155 year-old Adele’s building at 1112 North Carson Street, Carson City, Nev.

Funding in upgrades at rifle and pistol range to be heard by Carson City supervisors

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office Investigation Division is asking for information in a burglary that occurred at a residence on Carmine Street in Carson City on Oct. 4, 2019.

Lyon County Sheriff's Office says ATM stolen at Dayton credit union

Sometime around 2 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 26, one or more individuals stole a trailer containing a piece of construction equipment from the lot of a construction company in Lyon County. They drove the trailer to the Greater Nevada Credit Union in Dayton where they used the construction equipment to rip an ATM machine from the ground, placing it on the trailer.

A 60-year-old transient was arrested Tuesday, Dec. 24, in the 1600 block of Medical Parkway for alleged battery of a protected person, a felony, a Carson City sheriff's deputy report says.

Carson City women's shelter receives $2,500 holiday gift from Greater Nevada Credit Union

A Christmas gift of $2,500 was presented Tuesday to Carson City's Advocates to End Domestic Violence by Greater Nevada Credit Union. The donation is to help assist victims of domestic battery in the community.

A surprise early visit from Santa Claus and his band of decked-out merry helpers brought beaming smiles and joy to dozens of capital city children and their families Christmas Eve, a tradition held for nearly 40 years by the Carson City Sheriff's Office Reserve Santa program.

Santa Claus at V&T Railway Gift Shop Christmas Eve until 6:30

Santa Claus is making his last stop today, Christmas Eve, at the V&T Railway in East Carson City. He will be inside the gift shop until 6:30 p.m. The V&T Railway is located at 4650 Eastgate Siding Road. Go here for directions and a map. This is one of the last stops to get photos of kids and Santa Claus today in the Carson City area.

Carson High School NJROTC raises more than $3,000 for Carson City Angel Tree Project

CARSON CITY — The Carson High School Naval Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps, also known as NJROTC, program raised more than $3,000 for the local Angel Tree gift program. CHS NJROTC has raised money for the charity for the past three years.

Carson City arrests: Woman jailed for suspected child abuse, 8-year-old 'surrounded' with drugs

A 34-year-old Dayton woman was arrested Saturday by the Carson City Sheriff's Office Special Enforcement Team for suspicion of child abuse causing substantial bodily harm, burglary, grand larceny, possession of meth and heroin and other charges.

Carson City area weather: Snow possible on valley floors Monday, cold through Christmas

Gusty conditions will continue Sunday around the Carson City area with snow expected in the Sierra that may make it down to the valley floors on Monday, according to the National Weather Service in Reno.
