The Carson City Emblem Club No. 507 will sponsor a Hawaiian-style dinner this Friday, June 18 at Carson City Elks Lodge No. 2177, located at 515 N. Nevada St. in Carson City.

Carson City Elks Lodge No. 2177 will host a Memorial Day Cookout this Saturday, May 29, 2021 at the lodge, 515 No. Nevada St. There are 40 tickets available.

Carson City Emblem Club No. 507 is hosting its fundraiser "Chili Dinner and Chili Dogs" this Friday, May 21 at Carson City Elks Lodge 515 N. Nevada Street.

I don’t have a valentine but I have a BF who I affectionately call Izzy. Two weeks ago she was in a very serious head on collision on Highway 50. A woman was going the wrong direction on the highway. She was airlifted to Renown, is finally home and has a long recovery ahead of her. I would love to do something special for her in her time of healing, and quite frankly anytime! She is caring, loving, compassionate, giving, honest and so much more! She never asks for anything so I hope you’ll consider my story so I could surprise her with an evening out! She deserves it! Thank you!

My Valentine is Brian Stoneman. We’ve been in love for several years and this will be the first year we actually get to spend Valentines Day together! Brian is special to me because he loves and supports me above all else and is an amazing father and business partner! Local resident William Puchert has an online campaign underway to get kilt manufacturer Sport Kilt to offer the Nevada State Tartan through their Design Your Own Tartan Contest. They offer kilts and products for less than $100, which is more affordable to getting the tartan fabric and having it made, which places the costs into hundreds of dollars. Sport Kilt already offers a California State Tartan. The contest deadline is Nov. 1 a day after Nevada Day!

The kilt manufacturer has told Puchert if he can show a significant demand for the tartan style, they would consider offering it as one of their products next year.

Bonanza Kennel Club of Carson City will hold its 31st annual AKC All-Breed Dog Shows, Obedience and Rally Trials with more than 800 dogs in attendance this weekend, Sept. 28–29, at Fuji Park in Carson City.

The 16th Annual Jazz & Beyond Carson City Music and Art Festival is underway, with Friday's opening featuring Rocky Tartarelli Band at the Bliss Mansion.

Vivekananthan Yatheepan of Carson City has been accepted into the Peace Corps and will depart for Moldova on June 3 to begin training as an organizational development volunteer.

The Carson Tahoe Health Auxiliary, in one of its most popular fundraisers, will host its 6th annual V&T Wine, Cheese and Dessert Train from Carson City to Virginia City on Saturday, May 4, 2019.

The special event train leaves the Eastgate Depot in Carson City at 10 a.m. and arrives in Virginia City at approximately 11:30 a.m. The train arrives back in Carson City before 4:30 p.m. Tickets are pre-sold, and guests are asked to be at the Eastgate Depot by 9:30 a.m.

CARSON CITY — A land of lochs, a monster, mountains and glens, Scotland conjures images of fertile, green valleys, littered with castles and dotted with sheep. The music has traveled hundreds of years and thousands of miles to now resound in the hills and dales of Nevada, and clues to what’s behind the woven kilts endure.

Idealists of Carson City, a club for positive change that meets monthly at the Brewery Arts Center, will have its next meeting on March 16, at 3 p.m. and the public is invited.

We have scheduled a self-defense class. The class will be upstairs in the Brewery Arts Ballroom, 449 King Street, Carson City. The instructor is Sean Morey, a martial arts teacher. Please wear comfortable clothing, and invite anyone you think would benefit from and enjoy this presentation. This event is free, however a $5 donation for the instructor is appreciated.
