The Grocery Outlet Bargain Market has launched its annual July Independence From Hunger Food Drive to combat hunger. The month-long campaign will collect cash donations and pre-made bags of nonperishable foods in-store at more than 400 U.S. locations to be distributed to local food agencies partners.

After announcing their new in-patient facility in Dec. 2021, Carson City Community Counseling Center will be opening their brand new 50-bed Regional Wellness Center facility this summer.

An open house for the facility is scheduled for this Friday, with a ribbon cutting at 1 p.m. A donuts and coffee food truck will be on scene, and the community is invited to attend.

Carson City Intuitive Center

Prior to the last day of school, Carson Tahoe Health, a not-for-profit locally owned healthcare system, donated two Stryker Pro Form hospital beds to the Carson City School District. The beds, valued at $15,000 each, will be used to treat students in the Health Office at Carson High School.

In search of volunteers for the summer here at Friends In Service Helping (FISH) in the Client Service building on 138 E. Long Street, Carson City. FISH is searching for summertime volunteers to act as Intake and Referral Specialists for our Client Services headquarters in Carson City.

Nevadan Angelo Reyes began his work day June 10, 2022 like any other, until a colleague mentioned that his eyes appeared yellow. This was the first sign of liver failure, which progressed rapidly. Driven by his sense of responsibility to his family and his son, he continued to work even as his skin began to yellow and his body held excess fluid.

Reyes was placed on the transplant waiting list less than a month after his first symptom — at 47 years old, he needed a life-saving liver transplant.

DAYTON, Nev. — National Prescription Drug Take Back events offer safe ways to dispose of expired or unneeded prescription drugs.

This weekend, as part of National Drug Take Back Day, Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey Counties, Lyon County Sheriff's Office, and Smith's have come together to host a drop off location in Dayton for unneeded medications.

This Wednesday, April 19, COVID vaccines will be available from Nevada Health Centers in Dayton and Silver Springs. Primary doses and Bivalent Boosters are available. There is no cost for the vaccines.

CARSON CITY — The Public Health Emergency declared during the COVID-19 pandemic came to an end on March 31, 2023, which means current Medicaid enrollees will no longer be automatically renewed for benefits. Medicaid recipients will now need to have their eligibility redetermined to see if they still qualify for Medicaid coverage.

A recent rework of Senate Bill (SB) 156 deemed crisis stabilization centers eligible for licensure, as well as reimbursable by Medicaid, significantly expanding access to mental health and substance use care for people across Northern Nevada.
