Carson City sheriff's officers make numerous drug, misdemeanor arrests over weekend
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Mon, 09/30/2013 - 4:28pmTwo men were arrested Sept. 27 and face felony drug charges after Carson City Sheriff's Special Enforcement Team officers found methamphetamine in a console of a van. Both men denied the meth was theirs.
Keith Wayne Furr, 51, and William Dale French, 42, of Dayton were arrested in the 4900 block of Highway 50 East at 5:28 p.m.

Carson City area casinos see slight increase in August gaming revenue
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Mon, 09/30/2013 - 9:11amCarson City area casinos saw a 1.31 percent increase in gaming revenue for the month of August, the state's gaming control board reports Monday.
Statewide, Nevada reported a total “gaming win” of $955,281,446 for the month, an 11.17 percent increase compared to August 2012.
Casinos in Carson City, Gardnerville and Minden took in $8,763,685 in gaming revenue for the month which led to the increase over August, 2012 winnings.
Argentina man killed in Mineral County motorcycle crash with horse
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Mon, 09/30/2013 - 8:54amA 29-year-old Buenos Aires man died and a woman was injured Sunday in a motorcycle crash with a horse west of Tonopah in Mineral County, the Nevada Highway Patrol reports.
The fatal crash happened on on U.S. Highway 6 in Mineral County near mile marker 14 and was reported at 7:20 p.m. The preliminary crash investigation details indicate the man was riding a blue 2013 Harley-Davidson motorcycle westbound on the two-lane highway with his passenger; a 30-year-old woman from the same city, said NHP Trooper Chuck Allen.

Local nonprofit Ventana Sierra to host Monster Ball fundraiser

The event will be held at the Plaza Hotel confrence room on October 26th from 8 PM to Midnight, and is for adults ages eighteen and over.

Dogs take center stage at Fuji Park

One of those top dogs to make an appearance in Carson City was Dodger, the top-ranked Border Collie in the country this year, with handler Elizabeth Nelson of Sacramento.
